Day 28

Day 28

Woke up to no power still, thankfully it came on around 9am.  I really felt like a cup of coffee, which I haven't had since December 31st, so I had one with the kid's cow milk.  Since power wasn't on, I boiled some water on the stove - thank god for gas!  So today I was a bit lacto-paleo.

Today's eats!

Breakfast:
I tried to have some chocolate mousse but it just didn't taste right to me.  It was ok to everyone else, just not to me, I had a couple of spoonfuls and then gave it to Elf Man to finish off.

I didn't know what I wanted after that - I felt a bit sick - so I was desperately craving vegemite on toast, but I didn't have it - I had two peaches instead - which was basically my morning tea as well by that time.

Lunch:

A ham "roll' - spinach and grated carrot in a roll of ham.  An egg that I turned into curried eggs (with organic dijon and curry powder), the other part of the carrot and a small handful of grapes.

Afternoon tea:
An overly ripe banana

Dinner:
Moroccan Beef and cauliflower rice

Dessert:
Leftover fruity dream

Supper:
No supper.  By the time we got the kids to bed, and had dessert, it was nearly bed time.

Well unfortunately this will be my last entry here for a while.  Something has come up (health wise) and I can't continue, however much I feel like a failure for not being able to see it through.  I will still be clean eating and making my own things, but I won't be a strict Paleo, so I feel to continue writing on this blog, well, it would make me a bit of a fraud.

I'll definitely be back though to finish what I started - even having to start back at day 1!

Day 27

Windy and rainy day here in the Boo - kids are going a bit stir crazy because they're not allowed to play outside!

Today's eats!

Breakfast:
Grain free cereal with natural Coyo and blueberries.

Morning tea:
Boiled egg

Lunch:
Pork chop and vegies.

Then, after lunch, we all shared hot chocolates from HERE.  Deeeeelicious!  We then went for a walk in the rain, and came home and all had hot showers/baths.

Afternoon tea:
A banana

Dinner:
Coconut chicken nuggets again and vegies.

Dessert:
Fruity dream (again)

Supper:
None. Power was out so we went to bed early.

Saturday, 26 January 2013

Day 26

Happy Australia Day!  Unfortunately this year there won't be any beer drinkin' in this aussie home.

Today's eats!

Breakfast:
A slice of the banana bread I made yesterday, toasted and then with nut butter on it.  It was ok.  Plus a small bowl of grain free cereal and Coyo on the top. My attempt at my own coconut yoghurt didn't work at ALL.  It was separated and still runny.  Think I'll just buy it when we can afford it!

Morning tea:
Skipped it.  Didn't even have my cup of tea!

Lunch:
So felt like corn chips.  That's all I have been craving lately.  So had some carb heavy stuff instead - oven baked sweet potato, pumpkin and carrot.  With some pan fried ham.  And some grapes before while it was cooking because I was pretty hungry by that time.

Afternoon tea:
A banana.  A small plum.

Dinner:
Pizza!!!  With the crust taken from HERE and I didn't have any meat to put on it (or raw cheese) so we used a tomato sauce base we made ourselves (passata, paste and mixed herbs) and then I put thinly sliced sweet potato, onion, red capsicum and drizzled egg on it in place of the cheese.

Dessert:
We didn't have any ice cream/sorbet/fruity dream left, so I cut up a banana and had the rest of the mixed berry Coyo on top of it - with some cacao nibs.

Supper:
Power went out so no cup of tea. So we had water with my homemade chocolate - cherry ripe style (made with fresh cherries and shredded coconut). I'm doing this from my phone so will link the recipe tomorrow.
ETA - here is the recipe!  Yummy yummy chocolate

Friday, 25 January 2013

Day 25

Feel a bit weak today, and totally out of energy.  Plus this morning I had a big pain down my leg, from my butt to my calf - bloody sciatic pain!  Drives me crazy.

Anyhoo - today's eats!

Breakfast:
Didn't have anything planned from the night before, so we decided to defrost some bacon and just have some with eggs.  Elf Man cooked this morning, was great!  Eggs were really nice and fluffy.

Morning tea:
I was out shopping until after 11am so I had a banana when I got back home.  Got lots of paleo treats at the shops, Woolworths stock some really good ones now, bars made from dates, nuts and cacao with nothing else added!  Fanbloodytastic.

Lunch:
Salad with beef strips.  Spinach, lettuce, grated carrot, black grapes and cashews.

Afternoon tea:
Paleo banana bread from HERE
I didn't quite cook it long enough, even though my tester skewer came out clean and I poked it about a dozen times!  And it got stuck in the bottom of my pan so next time I'm using baking paper.  It was definitely one of the nicer baking goods made with coconut flour (which has a texture that I'm not really all that fond of!)  All the kids ate some too.

Dinner:
I found some grassfed beef mince at Aldi today - wasn't overly expensive (around $8 for 800g) so I got that and made cheeseburgers for the kids, and rissole type things for us.  Served it with vegies and some organic dijon.  (I added a grated carrot, garlic powder and onion powder to the mince before making into patties).

This is what the kids dinner looked like:

I've noticed that there is a definite difference between grass fed meat and grain fed meat - the smell of the raw meat!!  At first I thought it was a bit off because it smelled a bit funny, but then we worked out it was because it was grass fed meat.  The 2kg of grass fed sirloin I got the other day was the same as well. It just smells more.. meaty - funnily enough LOL

Dessert:
Leftover fruity dream from last night.

Supper:
One of the bars I found at Woolies and a cup of tea.

I'm also attempting to make my own coconut yoghurt tonight, so we will see in the morning how it turns out.  This is made with my own homemade coconut milk based on the recipe in this post HERE and the coconut yoghurt made from this recipe HERE.  Hopefully it works because I really like coconut yoghurt but at $9.40 for 400ml its slightly out of reach of our budget!

Speaking of food costs - I spent about $300 all up this week, which isn't too bad (including stuff around the house too) - however because I stocked up on meat in the first week, I'm using a bit of chicken from our stock pile, so I only had to buy two lots of meat this week instead of lots of meat.  Will see how we go next week!

Day 24

Day 24!

I can't believe I have made it this far, still a LONG way to go, but hopefully I'll knock these cravings on the head soon.  Today it was for maccas again.  I miss it! Crazy isn't it.  Some days I wish I was a normal person who could eat normal things and not worry about the damage its doing to my health.

Anyhoo - today's eats:

Breakfast:
Grain free cereal I made last night (with currants and cranberries), coconut milk and some fresh blueberries.

Morning tea:
Whoops, skipped it!  Had a tea with my lovely friend Anita who came over so I didn't bother eating.

Lunch:
We hardly have any food at the moment, so I went searching in the freezer for any leftovers that were paleo.  Thankfully I had put two servings of shepherd's pie away in the freezer, so I heated those up, put some dollops of BBQ sauce on it, and had it with sweet potato and carrots.

Afternoon tea:
Our local health food shop had 20% off today, so I saved some money on a huge container of coconut oil.  So I got some Coyo to try - OMG - SO FREAKING NICE!!!!!!  But oh so expensive - 400g cost me $9.40 - ouch!  So I just had a little bit of it, but wanted to lick my cup it was in after I couldn't get any more out with my spoon.  I'll have to attempt to make my own coconut yoghurt, it will work out a little bit cheaper anyway if I'm successful!

Dinner:
Tuna Bacon cakes from HERE with some sweet potato chips and broccoli.

Dessert:
Elf Man made up some fruity dream from the thermomix book, but omitted the sugar - we had a mixture of plum and strawberry.  Definitely tell there was no sugar in it.

Supper:
Piece of brownie and a fruit leather.  And a cup of tea with almond milk.

Wednesday, 23 January 2013

Day 23

Today's eats!  (and I don't want to mention my craving for maccas and corn chips haven't gone away yet)

Breakfast:
Green smoothie.  With frozen strawberries instead of the usual blueberries. Yum.

Morning tea:
We went to Coo's kindy orientation this morning, so I had to take it "to go". So we had a small piece of brownie that we made yesterday and a small handful of cherries.

Lunch:
We got home at lunchtime starving, and I just wanted something quick and I wasn't craving anything in particular (that I could have!) so I had two eggs, scrambled, and some carrot sticks.

Afternoon tea:
Zucchini Hommus and carrot sticks.

Dinner:
Salmon and vegies.  Need more broccoli!

Dessert:
Leftover sorbet

Supper:
Cup of tea, brownie and fruit leather.

Tuesday, 22 January 2013

Day 22

So I was visiting the toilet a few times last night, and this morning.  So something I had upset my belly, I'm wondering if it was the mince in dinner last night - I think it was more fatty than what I am used to, usually I get extra lean mince.

Today's eats:

Breakfast:
The chia muesli again with banana instead of apple, and some blackberries and blueberries.  Plus almond milk - Elf Man had coconut milk.

Morning tea:
I didn't skip it today, I had a boiled egg.

Lunch:
Ham and shallot  omelette and some sweet potato chips.

Afternoon tea:
An apricot and a banana.

Dinner:
Sausages and vegies (and BBQ sauce from the other night - its still going!)

Dessert:
Sorbet

Supper:
Brownie from HERE and cup of tea. I think my piece was a bit too big but I ate it anyway!

Monday, 21 January 2013

Day 21

Another day of sort of wishing I could have a packet of chips or something simple!  I think you get into a routine of things are so easy to pick up and eat that when you can't do that, it seems so difficult.

I'm sure I'll get over it.  This is one thing in my life I'm determined to complete.  Sick of giving up on things when they get too hard.

Today's eats!

Breakfast:
CADA - coconut, almonds, medjool dates and apples - covered with coconut milk (chilled) and some blueberries.  I think its my favourite breakfast, just in terms of simplicity!  Plus its lovely and sweet, but not too sweet.

Morning tea:
No morning tea, I put Bubbles to bed at 11 as usual and then went for a walk around the block for some fresh air (plus I haven't walked for a while!) I really need to start getting into regular exercise, should do my weights tomorrow.

Lunch:
Salad - no pic, I started eating and then forgot and by that time half of it was demolished!  So I had spinach, black grapes, chicken, sweet potato and cashews.  Also a mixture of olive oil and lemon as a dressing.

Afternoon tea:
Sort of forgot that too - just my cup of tea!  I cleaned the house instead before we had our showers (baths for the kids) and then we all ate together again.

Dinner:
Spaghetti bolognaise.  With zucchini pasta.  And made by Elf Man!  Woohoo!  No cooking for me!

Dessert:
Strawberry & nectarine sorbet (no sugar, just fruit and ice)

Supper:
Cup of tea and some casharoos.

Sunday, 20 January 2013

Day 20

Today's eats:

Breakfast:
Last night I made the granola from HERE.  It was SO sweet.  Like, really too sweet. I was using my almond milk to cut through the sweetness.  I think it would be better set into bars for a sweet treat, rather than a cereal, I had a huge sugar hit from it, and started feeling like crap and sweating and stuff just from the reaction from all the sugar.  And even though its from natural sources (maple syrup and raw honey) it was just too much for us.

I think I might try to come up with my own granola/grain free cereal type thing, and see how I go with my experiments :)

Morning tea:
We drove up to the Sunny Coast to visit Elf Man's parents today, just because I felt like getting out of the house and thought it would be nice for the kids to see their grandparents.  So I took stuff for Elf Man and I to eat - its not that hard to come prepared.  So we had some lemon balls, a piece of casharoo and some cherries (I shared mine with the kids).

Lunch:
Chicken Fajita salad!  I got it from an App that I downloaded, but now can't find it when I search in the store for it, even though the App is on my phone! This is where the recipe is from - HERE
It was super yummy though, and very satisfying.

Afternoon tea:
Nothing, sort of missed that, but we decided to have dinner with the kids so we were eating earlier than normal anyway.

Dinner:
Chicken kebabs - with a vegetable kebab and some broccoli.  There probably wasn't enough chicken, but I didn't want to put too much on it, wanted to leave some chicken for lunch tomorrow.

Dessert:
We whipped up some strawberry fruity dream for the kids, but didn't have that because we put a little bit of sugar in it for them, so we had the rest of the banana cream pie instead.

Supper:
Cup of tea, casharoo and some medjool dates :)

Saturday, 19 January 2013

Day 19

No waking up feeling sick overnight so that was a bonus.  I don't feel that I slept well though, and I'm really tired today for some reason.

Today's eats!

Again we were short on our options for breakfast (I'm so bloody disorganised) so I found a "no oat oatmeal" recipe and we tried that.  It was quite nice and was more than enough for me and Elf Man.  Here is the recipe that we used HERE.
Topped with blueberries, strawberries and almond milk.

Morning tea:
We were at a friend's house so I took us a big apple to eat.  It was bloody huge!!!!

Lunch:
Sausages!  I found some sausages at Coles which are basically paleo, except for the one preservative added. No wheat or sugar like other ones, so I decided that is close enough for me!
Oh and piece of quiche from yesterday.  With the BBQ sauce from last night.

Afternoon tea:
I was feeling pretty uninspired and not really in the mood to eat anything, so I finally decided on an orange.  Elf Man wants me to try and eat more food to up my natural sugar intake to see if that helps with my lightheaded stuff than I suffer from.

Dinner:
Pasta alfredo from Paleomg again.  I had to test the recipe again of course to see if it was still freakin' awesome.  It was of course, but not as good as last time, think I overcooked the zucchini and didn't mix the herbs well enough before I added them all in.

Dessert:
Banana Cream Pie.  Yum.

Supper:
Cup of tea and fruit leather.  Was supposed to have a casharoo but I couldn't fit it in! Too full.

Friday, 18 January 2013

Day 18

Woke up last night with cramps in my belly and a feeling like I needed to vomit.  Funnily enough, Elf Man was already up and he was in our toilet, so I had to dash to the kids toilet (after grabbing the bucket from the laundry - just in case)

I didn't vomit thankfully, but the feeling stayed with me for a while, not sure what it was that made that happen - guessing it was some food.

So today I was tired, and grumpy and feeling a little crappy.  Then I realised it was day 18 and that was the same wall I hit last time on the Whole30 - we only lasted till day 18 and then I gave it up because it was too hard.

I hit the same wall today.  Its hot, I'm sick of being in the kitchen cooking everything from scratch, its fucking hot, I hate cooking, I hate whingy kids around my feet while I have to cook stuff so we have stuff to eat - did I mention its fucking hot?

As tempted as I am to just give it all up and go back to normal eating, I'm not going to.  I'll probably still bitch and moan and have a huge mummy meltdown - but I will finish this off.  Just doesn't help when you are tired and get headspins every time you stand up (bloody low blood pressure pissing me off).

Anyway thats enough bitching and moaning - on to today's eats!

Breakfast:
Green smoothie.  Didn't have anything else we could have.  It was a nice one though, I used a cup of cherries instead of the normal blueberries and it was tasty tasty *licks lips*

Morning tea:
Skipped it again.  I know I shouldn't because it makes me so freaking hungry by the time lunch comes around, but I give the kids morning tea at 10 and I'm not hungry then, and then Bubbles goes to bed at 11am so by the time I'm finished with her its like 11.45 - and we usually eat lunch at 12 so I just wait.  Today it felt like my stomach was eating itself I was that hungry.

Lunch:
Spinach quiche and a small salad - shredded lettuce, black grapes and a small piece of avocado.
The quiche was ok, it was a basic quiche recipe from HERE, I think next time I'll make it into a zucchini quiche and add some bacon as well.

Afternoon tea:
Small piece of casharoo and a lemon ball.  I really wanted the banana cream pie that I made today, but that will be for tomorrow's morning tea I think!

Dinner:
Chicken nuggets and BBQ sauce from HERE and some vegies.  They were really tasty and the BBQ sauce was so full of flavour!!  Definitely one to have again.

Dessert:
Sorbet.  Still finishing the batch off.  After the shitty day I've had today though, I could really go something with chocolate in it.

Supper:
A cup of tea and.... a slice of banana cream pie!!!  From HERE.  I so couldn't wait till tomorrow.

Thursday, 17 January 2013

Day 17

I'm much less organised than I was when I first started.  Today was another day with no chia cereal being able to be made because we had no bananas. No chocolate smoothie because we had no frozen bananas.  No grain free cereal made.  I really have to pull my finger out and start making more stuff and making myself cook in the kitchen! I think because you get so used to convenience foods, that you forget you actually have to make all your own snacks, milks, dinners, ice creams etc - it all takes time.

Today's eats:

Breakfast:
Bacon, a boiled egg that was cold because we boiled them a few days ago and had them sitting in the fridge, and some cherry tomatoes fried in coconut oil spray in the fry pan.

Then we went for a meet up at a Hotel and even though they sold lots of yummy things, I drank my water and ate half an orange, a casharoo bar, and some lemon balls instead.

Lunch:
When we got home it was after lunch time so I was pretty hungry!  I had a lettuce hamburger, some ham, grated carrot and a quarter of an avocado in between lettuce shells.

I also had a blackberry after lunch.

Afternoon tea:
A celery stick halved, with almond butter in the middle of it.  It was really nice actually, almond butter tastes very much like peanut butter I think.  And considering how much I don't like celery on its own, I didn't mind this.

Dinner:
Steak and vegies.  No picture needed its pretty self explanatory.

Dessert:
Sorbet from last night, as well as some random blueberries chucked in.

Supper:
Cup of tea, casharoo and some lemon balls.

Wednesday, 16 January 2013

Day 16

Today's eats!

Breakfast:

Bit of a pickle this morning - didn't have any grain free cereal, forgot to prepare the chia muesli thing last night, didn't really feel like eggs and defrosting some bacon, or just fruit - so I whizzed up something super yummy instead!

Chocolate mousse!  Delicious, decadent, and so very paleo.  Recipe is HERE.  We topped ours with some blueberries and fresh cherries.

Morning tea:
Skipped it basically except for nibbling on some leftover casharoo bars that I made - the little sticky parts left on the baking paper. Yummo.

Lunch:
Had a beautiful friend over for lunch, so I made us all the same salad (Elf Man added tuna to his though).  Spinach, roast pumpkin, roast capsicum, bacon, egg.  With a dressing of olive oil and lemon juice.

Afternoon tea:
Nothing, just a cup of tea.  I didn't really feel like anything and decided I wasn't hungry enough to have anything to eat really, its a habit that I'm trying to break.  I like having dinner when I'm super hungry and feeling really satisfied once I have finished eating.

Dinner:
Salmon and vegies!  Dinner was late and I was sooo starving by the time we served it (nearly 8pm!).  Salmon was so nice, I love the crispy part on the top, its my favourite part.

Dessert:
Sorbet - orange and mango (no sugar added - just fruit and ice belted in the thermomix!)

Supper:
Cup of tea, casharoo and lemon balls that I made today :)

Tuesday, 15 January 2013

Day 15

Woke up across the end of the bed this morning because Bubbles and Speedy had taken up so much room and that was the only way I could actually sleep without being curled up in a ball.

Today's eats!

Breakfast:
Grain free cereal with coconut milk and blueberries and strawberries.

Morning tea:
A cup of tea.  Thats all I felt like since breakfast is pretty filling.

Lunch:
A picnic in the park!  Who said you couldn't do takeaway paleo?  A burger left over from last night, in between some lettuce, with tomato slices and half a small avocado.  Plus an egg.  My god it was delicious!

After lunch, I also had some apple slices, grapes and a few cherries.

Afternoon tea:
Didn't have any. I wasn't really hungry after my lunch.

Dinner:
Roast chicken. My organic, free range chicken that only cost me $5!  Bargain chook. I was going to do it in the whiz bang cooker thingy my mum gave me ages ago, but when we turned it on it made a funny noise.  So I decided to look for a nice recipe and found THIS.  With some vegies.

Dessert:
Leftover ice cream - made into banana splits!

Supper:
A cup of tea and a bar.. and a fruit leather thing.

I have to make mention of the fact that a very good friend of mine had takeaway for dinner tonight, and it was the first time in the two weeks that I wanted maccas or something so very bad!  Double cheeseburger.  Fries.  Coke.  Chocolate sundae - with a flake.  Urgh. I hate craving stuff, especially junk food because I know what that brings me.  I know the circle it leads me in.  I know its not good but its so fucking yummy that I want it, and then I'd want it the next day and the next day.  But I'm not going to give in, because I made a commitment to 112 days straight and that is what I am going to do. I am determined to meet my goal.  I may not be 65kg by the end of it, but damn it, I'm going to be healthy.  Maybe tomorrow I'll cheer myself up with some bacon.  Bacon is our treat in this house!  Maybe I'll make some casharoo bar and some lemon balls as well.  Or maybe some raw vegan chocolate mousse!

Monday, 14 January 2013

Day 14

Another early wake up this morning, no milk though so had to have a herbal tea.

Today's eats:

Breakfast:
Green smoothie.  With some frozen cherries and raspberries, was quite yummy!

Morning tea:
I went on a road trip with a good friend and took an apple, a bar, and a banana.  Considering I got home after lunch time it was a good thing that I took those!

Lunch:
A serving of last nights shepherds pie and some sweet potato.

Afternoon tea:
Because of my late lunch, I didn't need afternoon tea. I had a cup of tea when the kids ate their dinner (sausages.  I miss sausages!  Can't seem to find any without any flour in them).

Dinner:
Apple Mustard Pork burgers from HERE.  And some sweet potato chips, broccoli, carrot and beans.
(Not a great photo, I just wanted to eat!)

Dessert:
Ice cream from last night. With extra cherries.

Supper:
Cup of tea and some cashews, half a fruit leather and some dates (not covered in vegetable oil like most you get from the supermarket - win!)

Sunday, 13 January 2013

Day 13

Bad dream last night.  So I was up for an hour or so, a little tired today.

Today's eats:

Breakfast:
Chia muesli but I mixed it with banana instead of apple (or pear) and it was much nicer that way.  So I think I will continue doing it that way.  Very filling, kept me going till about 11.45 - so I skipped morning tea and went in the pool instead with the kids.

Lunch:

Leftover curry from last night, some sweet potato and carrot.

Afternoon tea:
Some grapes, half an apple and some cherries.  And one of the bars that I made yesterday.

Dinner:
Shepherd's pie from HERE.  And some vegies (beans, sweet potato, pumpkin, asparagus and broccoli).  I was so very full after I finished it all, it was a huge plateful of food!!  The Shepherd's pie was pretty tasty, different with the cauliflower mash instead of potato but I could probably use sweet potato next time.  The actual mince was pretty yummy but that could just be because it contained bacon.  And I looooove bacon.

Dessert:
Elf Man was on dessert duty again today, so he made ice cream with bananas, cacao, coconut and cherries.

Supper:
A herbal tea (my milk went off - think the kids opening the fridge all the time shortened its life) and a bar from yesterday.  And a fruit leather thing. :)

Saturday, 12 January 2013

Day 12

This morning Sparrow woke me really early, so I can't say my mood was jolly from the moment I opened my eyes. Plus he wouldn't STFU so he woke some of his sisters too who were all in our room sleeping - as usual.  All this before 6am makes me not very jolly at all.

Today's eats:

Breakfast:
Grain free cereal, chilled coconut milk, half a banana and some blueberries.  So filling!

Morning tea:
I went shopping and got back just after morning tea time, so I decided to have a cuppa and wait until lunch, I wasn't starving or anything anyway.

Lunch:
I made some tuna balls and had them on roma tomatoes in a lettuce cup.  So yummy and fresh!
I took a photo on my ipad, but can't find it now to put it on here. So just imagine it.

Afternoon tea:
While the kids were snacking on chips left over from Sparrow's party, I had an apple.  Then of course because I had an apple, they wanted an apple.

Dinner:
Pumpkin cashew curry on coconut rice from HERE.  It was quite nice, bit spicy for what I am used to, and I didn't even put as much curry as she said to in there.  Or the red pepper flakes, couldn't get those.  And I burnt my cauliflower rice, but it still tasted nice!!  Got enough for Elf Man to have for lunch tomorrow.  My picture looked crappy compared to hers, so I decided not to use it.

Dessert:
Leftover ice cream from last night.

Supper:
Cup of tea (yay, I have milk!) and a new slice that I made from THIS recipe.

Friday, 11 January 2013

Day 11

We went to my mum's house today and went for a swim because it was so bloody hot!  So even though history would tell us that its impossible to resist the lovely treats my mum has at her house (the kids had bbq shapes, cream biscuits, ice cream, hot dogs, lollies, custard, jelly etc) this is what we ate instead.

Breakfast:
Was at home still so had 2 rashers of bacon and some scrambled eggs.

I did a little bit of exercise, a few laps in my mum's pool, and another few laps with just the kickboard focusing on my legs.  Its not a "small" pool.

Morning tea:
Apple.  A nice crispy cold one out of the fridge.  The kids also had one which was the healthiest thing they ate all day.

Lunch:
Mum had made a trip to the shops and got some healthy stuff, so we had ham off the bone in a salad - fancy lettuce, red onion, pumpkin, walnuts, red grapes and some lemon squeezed over the top.

Afternoon tea:
We left mum's at 3 and dropped into the shops ourselves, so munched on some prunes and grapes on the way home.

Dinner:
OMG.  That's the only words I have.  This was simply amazing.  Chicken bacon alfredo. I got the recipe from HERE with a couple of slight changes.  I didn't have any dried basil to put on my chicken in the oven, so I sprayed with some coconut oil spray and then sprinkled some italian herbs on it, and salt and pepper.  Plus, I didn't have any squash, so I used 3 zucchini's and peeled them like pasta strips.  It was one of the most amazing things I have ever had in my life!!!  Definitely going to have again.

I could seriously go another bowl right now.

Dessert:
Elf Man was on dessert duty tonight, so he whipped up an ice cream with bananas, cacao, coconut and raspberries.  And served it with fresh blueberries.  So spoilt!!!

Supper:
There wasn't any almond milk so there goes my tea, but a herbal tea is nearly as good I suppose.  And some cashews and dates and stuff like that to nibble on since we are out of balls and casharoo.  Must go shopping tomorrow for some more food!

Thursday, 10 January 2013

Day 10

Today is Sparrow's birthday - and the temptation to indulge is high!  Chips, lollies, cake, sausage rolls, party pies, ham and cheese sangas, fairy bread - it nearly killed me!  Plus he wanted maccas for dinner, and our rule is that the birthday child can pick whatever they want for dinner.  Its usually maccas.

Today's eats:
Breakfast:
Our muesli concoction except I didn't have any apple left, so I used a pear instead.  It was ok, think I like the apple option better.

Morning tea:
Elf Man ran down the street and got the kids some muesli bars and fruit bars so they wouldn't attack the party stuff before the party started at 11.  I had 2 choc orange balls and a boiled egg.

Lunch:
No sausage rolls or sangas or party pies for me! Once the party was over and everyone had left, I cooked up some chicken pieces in the frypan and added them to spinach, an egg, grapes and walnuts on a plate.

Afternoon tea:
A handful of raw cashews.

Dinner:
Steak and sweet potato chips, carrot, snow peas and broccoli.  God damn I love sweet potato chips.

Dessert:
The little bit of ice cream left, with blueberries and raspberries and a tiny sprinkling of cacao nibs.

Supper:

Cup of tea, half a fruit leather, half a handful of raw cashews and 2 dates (the kind not covered in vegetable oil).

I resisted the chocolate in the fridge, and I can honestly say that when I open the fridge, I look at the chocolate, but I feel no urge to take it and eat it.  Win for me!

Wednesday, 9 January 2013

Day 9

Have a bit of the runs today, hoping its not going to last the rest of the days I have left, and it will leave within the first month of being on paleo like most side effects do!  I read that you really have to do it for at least 30 days to get the full benefit out of it.  Last time we lasted 18 days because I was sick of being on the toilet every morning until lunch time.

Today's eats:

Breakfast:
Grain free cereal with half a can of coconut milk (chilled) and a banana on top. I was SO full after this that I felt a bit too full.

Morning tea:
An apple and 2 choc orange balls.

Lunch:
Bacon and eggs.  Its like 36 degrees today, and I just felt like bacon.  So I put the oven onto 200 and cooked it instead of standing over the grill and doing it.  So Elf Man and I shared 4 eggs between us and a butt load of bacon. mmm.  Bacon.

Afternoon tea:
Watermelon! It was too hot for anything else.  Even the ice melted in my water really quick. Yuck.

Dinner:
Fried Rice.  With cauliflower for rice, capsicums, onions, and lots of other goodies.  There doesn't look like there is much "rice" in there in the picture and thats because the cabbage sort of overtakes it.  I wasn't going to put it in, but I had a bag of coleslaw mix that I was going to use tomorrow night for pineapple coleslaw, but Elf Man used the pineapple earlier in the week - and I wasn't going to have the coleslaw without it.  So I thought I would put it in the fried rice instead.  Figured if it was disgusting then I would have fruit or something instead.  So I also had to use another one of my spices, I usually use chinese five spice in my fried rice, however, that contained rice flour, so I picked another random spice that doesn't contain anything other than the spices.   It was ok, but really needed some protein, totally forgot to add chicken and egg like I normally do.

Dessert:
Banana split this time done by Elf Man. With the added bonus of some blueberries!  Yum.

Supper:
Cup of tea and choc orange ball.
